The plant has medicinal importance in indigenous tribes of Central India. Tribal women in this valley cook fabulous delicacies using fruit of the plant. The jackfruit pulp and seeds are believed to be tonic, cooling and nutritious. Its roots are use in disorders like asthma and fever. Roasted seeds are given to patients with sexual debility. It acts as a perfect aphrodisiac. The apply juice of the bark to cure swellings and sprains on leg. Ripe fruits are laxative in nature and also effective for diabetes. The heated leaf is placed on the swelled up parts of the body. It relieves the pain and gives cooling effect later on.
